Managing lessons without assistant.

I have been teaching preschool for 10 years. For all these years, we are 1 teacher, 25 pupils (1:25) Each classroom has 1 assistant teacher, which most of their times occupied with foods preparations, helping classroom administrations, kitchen cleanliness, pupils daily register, and other routines.  We are hardly to depend on them to assist during pupils learning activities in the classroom.  So, it is quite struggling for me especially managing 3-4 differentiated groups activities.
I am very thankful for a post by Heidi Butkus on Managing Literacy Center with NO adult help .
I am sure those facing the same problem like me would love to read more about it.
I will try literacy center next year.  Hope it does solve my long years problem.

play vs teaching reading skills

Sememangnya tugas utama kanak-kanak adalah bermain.  Kanak-kanak belajar melalui bermain.  Tetapi, tekanan dan permintaan semasa yang memerlukan murid-murid perlu menguasai ujian LINUS ketika melangkah kaki ke Tahun 1 telah mengubah senario di kebanyakan prasekolah, termasuklah tadika swasta.  Guru-guru sibuk mengajar membaca dan menulis sehingga terpaksa mengurangkan masa bermain.  

Saya masih ingat bahawa pensyarah maktab pernah berkata "kita mendidik murid-murid bukan untuk melihat kepada output pada jangka masa pendek.  Tetapi kita sebenarnya mendidik murid-murid untuk perjalanan mereka yang lebih jauh, 10 tahun, 20 tahun yang akan datang"

Artikel THE DISTURBING TRANSFORMATION OF KINDERGARTEN mengingatkan kita sekali lagi keperluan kanak-kanak.

Lawatan Ibu Bapa Sewaktu PdP berlangsung

 Pada 2.5.2014, kelas saya telah menjemput ibu bapa yang ingin melihat bagaimana PdP dilaksanakan di dalam kelas. 

Objektif lawatan ibu bapa ini bertujuan:
1. membenarkan ibu bapa melihat keadaan pembelajaran anak-anak di dalam kelas.
2. mendedahkan kepada ibu bapa cara mengajar membaca supaya memberi kesinambungan semasa latihan membaca di rumah.
