2015 classroom decoration


Last December 2014, for the first time my classroom painted anew. have done a few arrangement and relocation for some corners. Previous classroom setting was quite congested due to partition for the centers. But this year, I have put most of the shelves leaning toward the walls.  Which make the classroom more spacious and wide. Here you go...

Managing lessons without assistant.

I have been teaching preschool for 10 years. For all these years, we are 1 teacher, 25 pupils (1:25) Each classroom has 1 assistant teacher, which most of their times occupied with foods preparations, helping classroom administrations, kitchen cleanliness, pupils daily register, and other routines.  We are hardly to depend on them to assist during pupils learning activities in the classroom.  So, it is quite struggling for me especially managing 3-4 differentiated groups activities.
I am very thankful for a post by Heidi Butkus on Managing Literacy Center with NO adult help .
I am sure those facing the same problem like me would love to read more about it.
I will try literacy center next year.  Hope it does solve my long years problem.

play vs teaching reading skills

Sememangnya tugas utama kanak-kanak adalah bermain.  Kanak-kanak belajar melalui bermain.  Tetapi, tekanan dan permintaan semasa yang memerlukan murid-murid perlu menguasai ujian LINUS ketika melangkah kaki ke Tahun 1 telah mengubah senario di kebanyakan prasekolah, termasuklah tadika swasta.  Guru-guru sibuk mengajar membaca dan menulis sehingga terpaksa mengurangkan masa bermain.  

Saya masih ingat bahawa pensyarah maktab pernah berkata "kita mendidik murid-murid bukan untuk melihat kepada output pada jangka masa pendek.  Tetapi kita sebenarnya mendidik murid-murid untuk perjalanan mereka yang lebih jauh, 10 tahun, 20 tahun yang akan datang"

Artikel THE DISTURBING TRANSFORMATION OF KINDERGARTEN mengingatkan kita sekali lagi keperluan kanak-kanak.

VVIP visitor


What an honor to have our Deputy Education Minister, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching came to visit my classroom.  She was signing my visitors book accompanied by our two little ushers.
